🚨 PRECAUTIONARY BOIL WATER NOTICE – CITY OF FRITCH 🚨
The City of Fritch has been notified by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) to issue a PREEMPTIVE/PRECAUTIONARY BOIL WATER NOTICE due to an issue with the water system chlorinator that may affect the ability to maintain adequate disinfectant levels in the distribution system.
📍 IMPORTANT: This notice applies ONLY to City of Fritch water customers located INSIDE the City Limits. Customers outside the City Limits are not included in this notice.
💧 Effective October 5, 2026 – Until Officially Rescinded
Until the notice is officially lifted:
Boil water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, and other human consumption.
Bring water to a vigorous rolling boil and boil for 2 minutes, then allow it to cool.
Bottled water may be used as an alternative.

We received an update at 7:32 PM that Public Works was assembling the replacement parts. Crews are actively installing the new assembly and are working to restore water service as quickly as possible. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding while this work is completed. We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

The City of Fritch Recycling Center is closed today, Wednesday, September 30, due to standing water and hazardous conditions at the facility. We will reevaluate conditions tomorrow, Thursday, October 1, ahead of our regular 10:00 AM opening time. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we allow conditions to improve and ensure the facility is safe for residents and staff. SH 136 project update
Contractor selected to complete remaining work on the project
Sept. 21, 2026
FRITCH – Construction on the SH 136 Americans with Disabilities (ADA) project in Fritch is scheduled to resume on Monday, Sept. 28 with a new contractor, FoutsCo Paving Company, LLC, taking over project operations. The project is expected to be completed in early 2027.
TxDOT appreciates the patience and understanding shown by area residents, businesses and the traveling public during this transition. With a new contractor in place, crews will resume work to complete planned accessibility improvements and related project features along SH 136.
During construction, motorists and pedestrians should remain alert for changing traffic conditions, work zones, and construction equipment. Drivers are strongly urged to follow all posted traffic control devices for their safety and the safety of the workers in the area.
Please drive with caution and reduce speed through all work zones. All projects are subject to change due to weather, emergency work and other unexpected events. For the most up-to-date road conditions, visit www.drivetexas.org.

Residents may have noticed new sensors installed by Xcel Energy on select utility poles in the Fritch area.
These devices help Xcel Energy monitor the electric system, identify potential equipment issues early, and help line crews locate and respond to problems more quickly. In an area with elevated wildfire risk, they can also provide additional awareness of conditions that may affect power lines and equipment.
The sensors monitor utility infrastructure and do not capture images or video.
Similar technology is used by utilities across the country to support reliability, public safety, and infrastructure resilience.
Emergency Water Service Interruption
Residents on Hackberry Street may experience low to no water pressure.
We are currently experiencing an unexpected water outage due to a mainline leak. Crews are actively working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
